About the The Hazardous Waste Project :

"The Hazardous Waste Project explores how our society treats marginalized communities and calls attention to the danger underground artists pose to the mainstream, to small-mindedness, to stereotypes and to the status quo".

The Project presents experimental performance by Queer artists of color, trans artists and artists living with AIDS/HIV.  To date, this program’s original productions have explored a range of issues related to HIV, other life-threatening diseases and racism. We have 2 rotations per year with 4 artists who present the world premieres of performance work developed during the residency in a 2 weekend performance festival.

The Queer Arts festival is a few months away and we have just declared an opening for one or two new intents to join us in creating/staging this important work.   Do you have a piece of work who fits the bill?  Is something in your work that feels urgent in its intent, something that you know needs to be heard?

We are placing special emphasis on work from Queer artists of color, trans artists and artists living with AIDS/HIV. Leave your mark, submit your proposal no later than March 20. We will announce who got the spots at the months end.
