The Hazardous Waste Project , explores how our society treats marginalizes communities and calls attention to the danger underground artists pose to the mainstream, to small-mindedness, to stereotypes and to the status quo. The Project presents experimental performance by Queer artists of color, trans artists and artists living with AIDS/HIV whose voices are the driving force behind the Voice Factory. To date, this program’s original productions have explored a range of issues related to HIV, other life-threatening diseases and racism. We have 2 rotations per year with 4 artists who present the world premieres of performance work developed during the residency in a 2 weekend performance festival.
The Natives are Restless, goal is to nurture and strengthen the artistic and economic development of the Queer Native American, Native Hawaiian and Eskimo Bay Area arts community. The hopes of this residency is to give space for the artistic, political and spiritual voices to merge, by holding sacred the traditional ways of indigenous peoples social systems, sprituality, magic hierarchical structures, and history of the roles queers play in these structures. We have 2 rotations per year with 4 artists who present the world premieres of performance work developed during the residency in a 2 weekend performance festival.
